Adorable Labrador Cross Breeds & Why You Should Get One!
Labrador Retrievers are one of the most popular breeds of dogs, and one of the best family dogs in the world, and for good reason. They have a gentle and affectionate nature, making them ideal companions for families with children or other pets. Their intelligence also means they can quickly learn basic commands and tricks, making them easy to train.
They are a common choice of parent for breeders looking to create hybrids, as Labrador mixes can combine a multitude of great doggy traits.
Why Should I Get A Labrador Mix Breed?
When it comes to mix breed dogs, there are many advantages. A hybrid dog can offer the traits of two different breeds in one pooch! Labrador mixes combine the best characteristics of Labradors and other breeds, making them excellent pets for active families that are looking for a loyal and loving companion.
If you want the gentle, loving and intelligent nature of a lab, but they are a bit large for your home, then a mini labradoodle or labrahuahua for example, might be an attractive breed for you.
Labrador mixes tend to be intelligent, loyal, and affectionate. They are also incredibly social animals that love spending time with their families. Plus, they tend to be easier to train than some purebreds due to their high intelligence and eagerness to please.
In addition, Labrador mixes typically have an even temperament which means they get along well with other pets and children. They also make great guard dogs due to their size and protective nature.
In this post, we have put together a selection of the most adorable labrador mixes. From the ultra cute to the ultra loyal, these lab mixes are amazing hybrids!
16 Adorable Labrador Mixes
Pugador – (Labrador Retriever & Pug Mix)
The Pugador is a lovable and cuddly mix breed that combines the intelligence of a Pug and the athleticism of a Labrador Retriever. These dogs are full of energy and enthusiasm, and they love nothing more than being part of an active lifestyle. The Pugador is quite trainable, making them great candidates for various dog sports and activities. They enjoy walking, running, playing fetch, and snuggling with their family.
The Pugador is a medium-sized dog that can reach up to 25 pounds in weight. They typically have short fur coats that come in shades of black, brown, and white. Their muzzle is often black with an adorable pushed-in face, while their ears are usually floppy like those of a Lab.
They have the intelligence of both parent breeds, so they can easily pick up new tricks and commands. These dogs need plenty of exercise.
Aussiedor – (Australian Shepherd & Labrador Mix)
The Aussiedor is a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Labrador. The Labrador has been America’s most popular dog since 1991, so crossing them with an Aussie is something special. These pups are a real family dog — loyal, intelligent, obedient and affectionate. They get on very well with children, but also make excellent watchdogs or guard dogs too.
This medium-sized canine generally weighs between 40 and 80 pounds. The Aussiedor is an active dog and is a great hiking or walking buddy to it’s family. They also love to play games such as fetch and they are highly trainable animals, which makes them fun to be around!
Mastador – (Mastiff & Labrador Retriever Mix)
This powerful and large dog would make a good guard dog or a protective family pet. The Mastador may look like a big fearsome dog but it can be very affectionate and playful when trained properly.
The appearance of this crossbreed dog depends on how much it inherits from each parent breed. The Mastador will normally have a solid and muscular body like the Mastiff, a broad head like the Labrador Retriever, and a short-length, shiny double coat.
Considering the parent breeds there are only a few likely coat colors including Brown, Black, Yellow from the Labrador and Fawn, Red, or Brindle from the Mastiff mix. Occasionally, but rare the coat color can be Silver or Charcoal Gray.
Labradoodle – (Labrador & Poodle Mix)
The Labradoodle, bred by crossing the Poodle with the ever popular Labrador Retriever, is a smart, loving and playful dog that inherits desirable traits from both parent breeds. Bred to be companion dogs, these pups certainly live up to it and love to be around people. They love to please their owners too, which makes them easy to train and fun to learn tricks with!
Their intelligence means that they make excellent service dogs, especially guide dogs and therapy dogs, and they are highly intuitive, too. Their friendly personality means they will want to spend time with you and they are extremely sociable. They will love a trip to the store or a walk in the park where they can socialize with other people and dogs.
A great family pet, the Labradoodle gets on with everyone and just wants to love you! Their playful and active nature means they get on especially well with children and can make the perfect playmate.
However, due to their high energy levels, they do need space to run around, so a back yard is often preferable. They will especially love to play with you so you will have to make sure you have time to put aside to spend with your Labradoodle before you buy.
Mini Labradoodle – (Miniature Poodle & Labrador Mix)
While similar to the larger Labradoodle, the Miniature Labradoodle is created by crossbreeding a Miniature Poodle with a Labrador. Still intelligent, affectionate and great family dogs, you get all the same qualities of the loving Labradoodle but in a much smaller dog.
These little pups normally stand between 14 to 16 inches tall and usually weigh under 45 lbs, with the average weight being anywhere between 15 to 25 lbs. Much like the Standard Labradoodle, the Mini looks a bit like a teddy bear!
Some Mini Labradoodles may inherit a long, curly and thick coat from their Poodle parent, or they inherit a short, straight and dense coat from their Labrador parent. They have even been known to develop a coat somewhere in between, and it is impossible to predict or encourage one or the other in breeding.
Bred to be companion dogs, these pups certainly live up to it and love to be around people. They love to please their owners too, which makes them easy to train and fun to learn tricks with!
Border Lab/Borador – (Border Collie & Labrador Mix)
When we cross a Border Collie with a Labrador Retriever we get a Border Lab — a friendly dog that takes their intelligence from the Border Collie but their easy-going and happy nature from their Labrador parent. This means that they can make a wonderful family pet who is excellent with both children and other animals.
Thanks to their intelligence, the Border Lab, also known as the Borador, is very easy to train and the whole family can join in. They haven’t lost their Border Collie energy and will still love to exercise, accompanying their family while out hiking or running.
In fact these dogs need plenty of exercise and stimulus to burn off their energy. The collie is naturally a working dog, and can become frustrated or develop behavioural ‘quirks’ if they are not exercised enough. This carries through into the mix breeding so be aware these need to be active dogs.
Labrottie – (Labrador & Rottweiler Mix)
A Rottweiler Lab mix, the Labrottie, is a strong and energetic, large dog that would make a good guard dog or protective family pet.
The Labrottie is likely to inherit a solid and sturdy body like the Rottweiler, a broad head like the Labrador and a short to medium length, shiny double coat. A Rottweiler Lab mix is one of the largest hybrid dogs around. It may look like a fearsome large dog but it can be very friendly, loyal, and loving.
This mix is likely to be courageous, confident and smart and also loving and affectionate. They will show devoted loyalty to their dog owner and family. Early behavioral and socialization training will help this Rottweiler mix show its affectionate and positive protective nature.
Labrottie puppies tend to have more of the classic appearance and sturdy build of the Rottweiler but with the friendlier facial features and floppy ears of a Labrador.
Labrahuahua – (Chihuahua & Labrador Mix)
The Labrahuahua mix is an increasingly popular designer dog, which is created by crossing a Labrador Retriever with a Chihuahua. This delightful mix breed is known for its affectionate and loyal nature, as well as its outgoing personality.

The coat of these dogs is usually light golden or brown, as well as black in color, but they can also come in a variety of other colors and patterns.
These energetic pooches are very friendly and get along well with both children and adults alike. They are also quite intelligent and can be easily trained. Labrahuahuas love to play, but can also be quite lazy when given the chance.
When it comes to living environments, Labrahuahuas tend to do well in both urban and rural areas. Like most dogs, they need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.
Beagador – (Beagle & Labrador Mix)
The Beagle Lab Mix or Beagador is the result of crossing a Beagle with a Labrador Retriever. Two of the most popular breeds of dog in the United States today. Very little is known about the origin of the Beagle Lab Mix, but it is thought these dogs were first introduced in the 1990s. It is also believed that they originated in America.
The Beagador is an extremely loving and friendly dog, with lots of optimism and who just wants to be around you! Their gentle and sweet nature means they make excellent family dogs and they are great with children.
The Beagador does require a fair bit of exercise every day — upwards of 60 minutes. They are very happy to accompany you when you go hiking and running and so will do well in an active family who can cater to their exercise needs. Both Beagles and Labradors are also known for loving their food, so this is something to watch out for!
Goldador – (Golden Retriever & Labrador Mix)

Boxador – (Boxer & Labrador Mix)
The Boxador, is the result of mixing a Labrador retriever and a boxer dog. These two breeds have been mixed to have the kindness of a Labrador, and the protectiveness of the Boxer dog – although as a mixed breed it is impossible to guarantee these characteristics in a puppy.
It is a popular choice of dog for active families, as a Boxador is full of life, and thrives as an active dog. Male boxadors tend to be larger than females, but on average this breed will range between 21.5 to 25 inches in height. The same applies to their average weights, with males measuring between 55 and 80lb, and females weighing between 50 to 70lbs.
Boxadors are considered to be a large breed, as both of the parent dogs are big. While they’re known to be friendly, their size and bouncy nature also means you need to be a bit mindful of this when small children are around your pet.

This mix is known for being loyal and easy to train, as historically, both breeds are known for being working dogs. They were originally bred to combine the most desirable characteristics from both parent breeds into one dog — the temperament of the Labrador and the loyalty of the Pitbull. However, as with all hybrids the desired traits are not always guaranteed.
The Pitbull Lab Mix is classed as a medium to large breed dog, and they can weigh anywhere up to 80 lbs, with females generally being smaller than males. These dogs will likely have floppy ears and will be muscular yet lean in statue. However, they may look more like their Pitbull parent or more like their Labrador Retriever parent and can vary quite considerably.
The Pitbull Lab Mix is a friendly and sociable dog that loves to be around people. Because of their high intelligence, they need to be constantly engaged and keeping busy so they don’t exhibit any destructive behaviors.
Sheprador/Lab Shepherd – (German Shepherd & Labrador Mix)
The German Shepherd Lab mix, is a lovable crossbreed with all the great personality traits you could ever want in a family dog. Often called Shepradors or the Lab Shepherd mix, these hybrids are highly sought after. They are the result of crossing purebred German Shepherd dogs with purebred Labrador retrievers.
Typically, Labradors are known for their companionship. They make great family pets and are often used as guide dogs for those with disabilities. German Shepherds on the other hand, are revered for their athleticism and intelligence. You’ll often see these pups working alongside law enforcement and the military. Both however, have a history of being highly intelligent working dogs.
Shepradors are great family dogs, particularly for those that have an active lifestlye. They are incredibly loving and want nothing more to please their families. The combination of intelligent thinking and loyalty can prove to be useful in a home setting. Your watchdog will do all they can to protect your home while still being affectionate, and a big fan of cuddles.
