Mustelidae

The Mustelidae (Latin mustela, weasel) are a family of carnivorous mammals, including:

  • weasels
  • badgers
  • otters
  • ferrets
  • pine martens
  • wolverines
  • polecats

They are characterized by their long and slender body, short legs, and long and slender tail.

Mustelids are a diverse group of carnivorous mammals that make up the largest family in the order Carnivora.

They are found in nine subfamilies and include 66-70 species overall.
