50 State Birds of the United States

Every state in the United States has an officially designated state bird. The local legislature has chosen all of the official state birds, which represent the spirit of that state.

The first state to designate a state bird was Pennsylvania in 1782, which chose the ruffed grouse.

The most recent state to select a state bird was Hawaii in 1927, which chose the nene (a type of goose).
